Église Saint-Eustache – Gothic Grandeur in Les Halles
Église Saint-Eustache is one of Paris’s most impressive churches, located right by the modern Forum des Halles shopping district. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, it combines Gothic structure with Renaissance and classical details, creating a unique architectural mix.
Entry is free, and inside you’ll be struck by the soaring nave, nearly as high as Notre Dame’s. The church is also home to a world-famous organ with more than 8,000 pipes – the largest in France. Concerts are often held here, and even without music, the atmosphere is grand and moving.
The interior features many works of art, including a statue of Saint Eustace, paintings, and modern stained glass that contrasts beautifully with the historic stone. Notably, there is also a memorial to composer Jean-Philippe Rameau, who is buried here.
Because of its location, Saint-Eustache is easy to visit while exploring central Paris. It offers a moment of calm and beauty just steps away from the busy shopping streets.
