Pont Alexandre III – Paris’s Most Elegant Bridge

Pont Alexandre III is often called the most beautiful bridge in Paris, and once you see it, it’s easy to understand why. Opened in 1900 for the Exposition Universelle, it connects the Champs-Élysées with the Invalides and the Eiffel Tower area. The bridge is richly decorated with gilded statues, art nouveau lamps, and elaborate sculptures.

Crossing the bridge is completely free, and it’s a wonderful way to enjoy views of the Seine. On one side you can see the Eiffel Tower, while on the other side the golden dome of Les Invalides. Many visitors stop here to take photos because the combination of river, skyline, and decoration makes it one of the most photogenic spots in Paris.

The bridge is also symbolic: it was built as a sign of friendship between France and Russia, named after Tsar Alexander III. Its wide arch and elegant style made it an engineering achievement of its time.

Pont Alexandre III is not just a way to get from one side of the river to the other – it’s a highlight in itself. Whether by day or at night when the lamps are glowing, it’s one of the most romantic and iconic walks in the city.
