Mur des Je t’aime – The Wall of Love
Tucked away in Montmartre, near Place des Abbesses, stands one of Paris’s most romantic landmarks: the Wall of Love. Created in 2000 by artists Frédéric Baron and Claire Kito, it is a mural made up of 612 blue enamel tiles, on which the words “I love you” are written 311 times in over 250 languages.
The wall was designed as a message of peace and unity, and it has since become a popular meeting point for couples and visitors from around the world. Many people enjoy finding the phrase in their own language and taking a photo with it.
The setting in the small Square Jehan Rictus garden adds to the charm. Surrounded by trees and benches, it’s a quiet corner that feels far away from the busy streets of Montmartre.
While Montmartre is full of famous attractions like Sacré-Cœur, the Wall of Love has a more personal, intimate appeal. It shows how a simple artistic idea can capture the imagination of people from every culture.
It’s a perfect stop if you’re exploring Montmartre and want a moment of inspiration, a photo, or just a reminder of what connects us all.
