Atelier Brancusi – The Studio of a Modern Master

Right next to the Centre Pompidou, you’ll find a quiet space dedicated to the sculptor Constantin Brancusi. The Romanian-born artist is considered one of the pioneers of modern sculpture, and his works had a lasting influence on 20th-century art.

The studio you see today is a reconstruction of Brancusi’s original workshop, which he left to the French state when he died in 1957. The layout and atmosphere are kept just as he arranged them, with tools, models, and finished works side by side. Walking through the space gives a sense of the creative process, showing how the artist lived and worked.

The permanent collection is free to visit and includes some of Brancusi’s most iconic forms, such as streamlined birds, elegant columns, and abstract human figures. It’s a small place, but very inspiring, especially for those who want to see art in the context where it was made.

Because of its location near the Centre Pompidou, Atelier Brancusi is easy to combine with other visits in the area. It offers a calm and focused experience compared to the busy square outside. For anyone interested in modern art, it’s a must-see.
